Today I read Deteronomy 9, where Moses reminds the Israelites to not be prideful because they are not perfect and sinned repeatedly an example is the golden calf; God is keeping His promise to their forefathers. Today I considered that one person who loves God can pray and save thousands.
Prior Sin And Intercessory Prayer
Moses reminds the Israelites they are not perfect but God keeps His word (Deuteronomy 9:1-29). Moses tells the Isrealites that when they cross the Jordan river, the Lord will go before them to consume the large, tall Anakims to make it easier for the Israelites to drive them out and take their walled cities. God is keeping His promise to Abraham along with getting rid of wicked nations. They were to remember they sinned repeatedly making the Lord angry enough to destroy them. While Moses was gone 40 days getting the tablets of the covenant, the hardheaded Israelites made a molten calf to worship. Moses destroyed the calf and interceded by praying 40 days so the Israelites and Aaron lived. Moses reminded God of the promises God made Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob along with the wonders performed to get them out of Egypt.
Questions and Thoughts for Today
Sincere prayer changes things and can save lives. “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” (James 5:16b KJV). Moses’ sincere prayer and fasting saved a nation.
What changes have you seen happen after you sincerely prayed?
