Today I read Deuteronomy 30, where the Israelites are told they can have renewal and blessings after they repent from sin, and the choice of blessing or curses was at hand. Today I considered that repentance is also powerful.

Renewal After Repentance

When the Israelites have experienced both God’s blessings and curses and repented returning to God, God will give them back the promised land of their fathers (Deuteronomy 30:1-10). They are to truly love the Lord and keep God’s commands, and the Lord will bless their work, bodies, animals, and land. God will put all the curses of the Lord upon their enemies.

Choice of Life and Death

The choice for the Israelites and those with them was at hand and not far off (Deuteronomy 30:11-20).  The choice of loving and following God such that God gives them blessings and life or not following God and receiving curses and death.

Questions and Thoughts for Today

Moses knew the people would mess up and was telling them that even “when” it happens they can repent and return to God. After repenting, God can give them back the promised land. That doesn’t mean it happened immediately but at least their children knew to have hope. This applies to Christians as well, we may sin or make mistakes but we can repent, giving God our heart, mind, and soul, and God will bless us again.

What have you repented for and then seen the blessings of God come through?
