Today I read Ruth 4, in which Boaz cleared the way with the close relative, married Ruth, and had a son that was the grandfather of David. Today I considered that God shows us that when a man is ready and willing, he takes action to get married.
Boaz and Ruth Get Married
Ruth married Boaz and became the great grandmother of David (Ruth 4:1-22). Boaz went and waited at the gate, where they conducted business in those days, until he saw the closer relative to Naomi. Boaz had him sit with him. Boaz gathered 10 elders as witnesses. He then asked the closer relative if he would redeem the land and consider the inheritance to be under Elimelech’s line through the offspring of the daughter-in-law Ruth. The closer relative did not want it to affect his inheritance, giving Boaz the right to redeem the land and marry Ruth as his wife. Boaz married Ruth and she gave birth to a son named Obed. The women told Naomi how blessed she was with her daughter-in-law and child. Naomi became Obed’s nurse helping to raise him. Obed is the grandfather of David.
Questions and Thoughts for Today
A man that is prepared for marriage and truly wants to marry you will do what he has to do to go ahead and marry you. Boaz already had his own house, land, and income to support Ruth. Once Boaz and Ruth talked about marriage, Boaz cleared all of the obstacles the next day. He made sure he could marry her as soon as possible.
What actions have you seen people take showing they are truly ready and willing to get married?
