Today I read Daniel 6, where God protected Daniel in the lion’s den and was glorified by the king. Today I considered that God can even protect us from hungry animals.

Protected From Lions

Daniel faced death for his relationship with God, God delivered him, and God got the glory (Daniel 6:1-28). King Darius put 120 princes over the kingdom of Babylon who reported to 3 presidents. Daniel was placed as the highest president over the kingdom, was faithful, and did things correctly. When the presidents and princes wanted to find evidence against Daniel and could find nothing, they had king Darius write a decree that people could only petition Darius for 30 days, not go to any man or god. If a person prayed, they would be thrown in the lions’ den. They knew Daniel would pray and caught him praying to God. The princes and presidents repeatedly asked Darius to throw Daniel in the den of lions. Darius did say Daniel’s God would save him. Darius fasted, did not sleep that night, and got up early in the morning to check on Daniel. Daniel told him God’s angels shut the mouth of the lions because Daniel had done nothing wrong. Darius had Daniel taken out of the lions’ den. Darius threw into the lions’ den Daniel’s accusers, their wives, and their children to be destroyed by the lions. Darius sent a decree that everyone was to fear the living God that delivered and rescued Daniel.

Questions and Thoughts for Today

Many people know God can protect us from out enemies, but God can also protect us from animals when we have a relationship with God. Daniel was not seeking adventure or fun or teasing wild animals. When Daniel had no choice but to be thrown in the lions’ den, God protected him. If we have no choice but to face hungry animals, God can also protect us. We have to stay prayed up like Daniel.

When have you or someone you know faced an animal or danger and God protected you?
