Today I read Daniel 9, where Daniel prayed for the people and answers, and God had Gabriel explain the seventy weeks to Daniel. Today I considered that God can explain things to those sincerely praying for answers.

Praying and Receiving the Explanation

Daniel was trying to understand the word God gave Jeremiah concerning the 70 years of desolation for Jerusalem and God had Gabriel explain (Daniel 9:1-27). Daniel was wearing sackcloth, fasting, and praying. Daniel prayed acknowledging God’s righteousness, mercy, and faithfulness to the covenant.  Daniel confessed his sin and the people’s sin and confusion. Daniel asked God to turn his anger away from Jerusalem and forgive them. Gabriel came to Daniel while he was praying and told Daniel that God greatly loved him, and Gabriel was to explain the 70 weeks. Gabriel explained the timing within the weeks for the temple to be restored, the Messiah (Jesus) being cut off, the sacrifice stopping, and abominations occurring.

Questions and Thoughts for Today

God can explain things and interpret information that leaves us confused. Daniel sincerely fasted and prayed, asking for information about the prophesy concerning 70 weeks. God granted his prayer. We can also sincerely fast and pray for answers in our lives so that God tells us what we need to know.

Have you fasted and prayed for answers to things that confuse you are cause you other negative emotions?
