Today I read Hosea 5, about God’s severity towards Israel because of their treatment of others and turning from God. Today I considered that God allows bad things to happen for justice and to bring his children back to God.

God Punishing Unfair Israel

God’s anger and judgment of Israel because of their mistreatment treatment of others and turning from God (Hosea 5:1-15). Israel exploited, cheated and harmed the people of Mizpah, Tabor, and Shittim. Israel, Ephraim, and Judah have turned from God for so long that when they try to turn back to God, they will not find the Lord. God is sending a plague of locusts to devastate the land. The crooked rulers in Israel are going to feel God’s anger on their bodies. Ephraim will seek Assyrians’ help, but they can’t heal them. Ephraim and Judah will be attacked like they are facing a grizzly with cubs, and no one will be able to stop it. Then maybe they’ll come back to their senses and seek God.

Questions and Thoughts for Today

God wants us to deal fairly and correctly with individuals along with following God. The Israelites had gone too far in that they were harming innocent people and also sinning against God. God said enough is enough and started allowing the Israelites to face plagues and attacks. God also wants us to behave fairly with others and to seek God.

Have you considered that God is watching how you deal with others along with how you are responding to God?
