Today I read Hosea 10, where God reveals the second part of Israel’s punishment for their sins including losing their fortress. Today I considered that God knows what we are doing even if the consequences come later, but we will receive based on what we have given out.
Reap What You Sow
Israel started their sin in Gibeah and will end up having nothing (Hosea 10:1-15). Israel began sinning long ago in Gibeah and continued using the goodness of the land to make idols and breaking the covenant with God. God will destroy the places they worshipped in high places and images. What you sow you reap or harvest. People sewing righteous will harvest love. Ephraim and Israel sewed wickedness and will harvest evil and lies. So, people will rise up against Israel and the fortress will be destroyed.
Questions and Thoughts for Today
We harvest what we sow meaning we receive based on what we give out. Israel had given out wickedness so received evil. If they had given out righteousness they would receive love. If we are doing bad things, then we will receive bad things. It will eventually catch up to you. If we are doing good things then we will receive good things. So, we should try to do good things that are pleasing to God.
What good thing have you sewn in the world to reap a positive good harvest?
