Today I read John 3, where Nicodemus visits Jesus to talk to him and John’s testimony of Jesus. Today I considered that God usually gives us confirmation concerning what we are dealing with and John was confirmation of Jesus.
Water, Spirit and Salvation
Nicodemus was a learned man that talked to Jesus about salvation (John 3:1-24). Jesus explained that people are born of the flesh at birth but must be born again of water and the Spirit to enter heaven. The Messiah came to save people and for people to have eternal life by believing in him. Those that do not believe do not have the light and are condemned. Then Jesus and his disciples were in Judaea baptizing people while John was in Aenon baptizing people.
John Confirms Jesus
John says Jesus is the Messiah but John is just preparing the way for him (John 3:25-36). John told his disciples that Jesus was the real deal. John’s ministry would decrease and Jesus’s ministry would increase. Everyone that believes in Jesus will have everlasting life and those that do not believe will receive the wrath of God.
Questions and Thoughts for Today
Whenever you are facing major decisions and have time to think and plan, God usually gives you confirmation. Confirmation can be from something someone says, something you read, a video, and many other places. John was confirming the mission of Jesus.
Can you think of an example of a decision you were making and someone’s words or actions were confirmation of that decision?
