Today I read Hebrews 8, explaining that God created a new covenant with us. Today I realized people may carry the new covenant in their minds and hearts and not even realize it.
A New Covenant
God developed a new covenant with us. The old covenant with our forefathers had a lot of priests offering gifts and sacrifices to God. The old covenant law was written on tablets and books with the people continuously breaking the covenant. God now gives us a new covenant offering us mercy and forgiveness. Jesus Christ is the High Priest in heaven that sacrificed for us. In the new covenant the laws are in our minds and written on our hearts. We are able to know the Lord and be His people.
Questions and Thoughts for Today
When God gave the new covenant, we received in our minds and hearts information on how we should behave. So, when people go around saying this person or that person is a good person because of their behavior, maybe God gave them the information on how to behave. Even if people know right from wrong, they still have to know the Lord and continually seek God. Belonging to God with faith in Jesus Christ as our savior is how we receive mercy and forgiveness.
