Today I read Joshua 1:16-2:1, in which Joshua became the leader and sent two spies to view the land including the city of Jericho. Joshua knew to prepare by having relevant information before we go into a new land. Today I considered we are to prepare for when we move to other places. We can do so by asking others about the area, consulting realtors, and even looking online at national demographics and crime websites.

Research the Land

Joshua became the leader of the people after Moses died (Joshua 1:16-2:1). Joshua believed God that they could take the land and have a place for all the Israelites. Even though Joshua had faith, he still sent spies. Joshua was obtaining information on the features and obstacles in the land and knowledge about the city of Jericho. Joshua prepared for the next steps before taking the land.

Questions and Thoughts for Today

Many Christians are preparing to endure until the end. Some want to move to different cities, towns, or to live in the country. Christians should also prepare by knowing about the areas they plan to live in. Preparation could include asking others, looking online, obtaining free (free maps are sometimes at rest stops) or paid for maps, or even driving around and notating everything about the location. Remember to learn about the land’s nearby water features, town trash collection sites, different roads and trails to travel, local demographics, close local stores, safe places to go, and close crime areas.
