Today I read Genesis 22 and 23, which talks about God testing Abraham’s faith and Sarah’s death. God asked for what Abraham considered precious and Abraham was willing to give it to God. Abraham also received favor where he dwelt in obtaining the land he requested for a burial place. Today I considered God providing for us instead of us personally sacrificing and sometimes providing us with the things we desire.

God Will Provide – Jehovah-jireh

God sometimes tells us to go do tasks we believe will require our personal sacrifice but God provides the sacrifice instead. Abraham thought he was going to Mount Moriah to sacrifice his son Isaac (Genesis 22:2). God stopped Abraham and provided a ram for Abraham to sacrifice. Because of Abraham’s willingness to give up his son for God, God also provided a blessing that followed Abraham’s descendants. We as God’s children are blessed with the blessings of God gave Abraham even today.

A Particular Resting Place

God sometimes allows his children to obtain their preferences. Abraham had a particular location he wanted to bury Sarah, the cave of Machpelah in Hebron. Abraham paid for the cave and buried Sarah there. God sometimes gives us favor even when we in other people’s territory to obtain things we desire.
