Today I read Exodus 27, which talks about God’s instructions for building the altar and court of the tabernacle. Today I considered how God wants enduring things that are filled with beauty. Through God’s instructions and our obedience we can beautiful enduring spaces and a stronger relationship with God.

Brass as Part of the Altar

God wanted the things made for the altar to endure. God had them make the altar and altar accessories with wood and brass. The pans, shovels, basins, and more were made of brass so more able to withstand high temperatures and stress. God wants things made for him and his children to be able to endure.

Court of the Tabernacle

God’s court was full of strength and beauty. God used brass, silver, and fine cloth around the court of the tabernacle. Some of the cloth was also embroidered. When we follow God’s instructions, He can help us build spaces and areas in our lives that are both enduring and beautiful.

Questions and Thoughts for Today

I think about how a lot of churches have an altar call, and people go up front to receive prayer. When an altar call reinforces us like the brass used on God’s altar, it makes us stronger and more able to endure. Have you ever had prayer at the altar strengthen you or someone you know?
