Today I read Proverbs 19, which talks about the foolish, the poor, the wealthy, and seeking wisdom. Today I considered that God prefers honest poor people over the foolish, the wealthy’s friendships and money retention, and reading the Bible to prosper your soul.

Foolish vs. Poor

God compares the foolish and the poor showing us whom He prefers. The foolish speak wickedness, corrupts his own path, and happiness is not proper for him. The poor are separated from friends and family even when they try to talk to them. Better is a poor person with integrity than a liar or a fool.

Privilege of the Wealthy

God shows us how the wealthy keep their wealth and make many friends. Giving to the poor is like giving to God, God will repay anything given to the poor. People will call themselves your friend if you give gifts and wealthy people make a lot of friends.

Questions and Thoughts for Today

I believe reading the Bible for understanding is pursuing wisdom and showing you love your own soul. What do you think of the passage Proverbs 19:8: “He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good” (KJV) or “The one who gets wisdom loves life; the one who cherishes understanding will soon prosper” (NIV)?
