Today I read 1 Chronicles 6, which talks the descendants of Levi, the descendants of Aaron, and some the services they performed for God. Today I considered that God likes to hear us sing a song to Him and Christ Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice so we don’t have do burnt offerings for atonement.

Service of Song

David appointed people to the service of song before the tabernacle (1Chronicles 6:31-48). Worshiping God is so important Heman a singer and descendants of Levi were appointed even before the temple was built. They sang before the tabernacle of the ark and later inside the temple. God values us singing praises to Him.

Place Most Holy

Aaron and his sons were appointed to work in the place most holy (1Chronicles 6:49-53). They offered burnt offerings to God and kept the altar of incense. Aaron’s descendants’ job included offerings to pay for the sins of Israel. Thank God Jesus has come with the highest calling to atone for all of our sins and God prefers obedience to sacrifice.

Questions and Thoughts for Today

Praising God with song and in other ways is something we should strive to do daily. How often are you singing a song to God?

Caution: Only certain people using certain incense can do an incense offering to God. In Exodus 30 God warns about burning strange incense.
