Today I read 1 Chronicles 12, which describes some of David’s supporters, helpers, and mighty men, and their battle strengths. Today I considered that a good leader will have voluntary support from those willing to provide it.
Different Fighting Strengths and Supporters
People continued to join David as supporters and mighty men with different fighting strengths to make him king (1Chronicles 12:1-40). Fighters varied from armed with bows and hurling stones to shields and bucklers to shields and spears. These fighters had men that could fight with either hand, as swift as a deer, understood how to direct Israel, and experts in diverse war weapons. They fought under David protecting the people including from wanders and robbers. The people surrounding them joyfully supported David bringing needed supplies. We need leaders like David who bring willing volunteers and supporters that enjoy providing support.
Questions and Thoughts for Today
There was a supervisor that was so good departments kept trying to get him to come to their department, advise them, or transfer to their office. Workers under him trusted him and wanted him as their supervisor. When he left people were sad and some wished they could follow him.
What leaders have you met that people wanted to be under their leadership?
