Today I read 2 Chronicles 13, in which Abijah, king of Judah, defeated Jeroboam by relying on God. Today I considered that God can help us overcome and expand our territory even when it seems like we are outnumbered and trapped.

Overcoming When Outnumbered

God can help you overcome when are outnumbered and an ambushed (2 Chronicles 13:1-22). Abijah had reined in Jerusalem three years when Jeroboam, king of the 10 rebelling tribes, attacked. Abijah warned Jeroboam not to fight because God gave the land to David’s descendants. Abijah explained that his kingdom was sacrificing to God and relying on God while Jeroboam’s kingdom had turned from God. Jeroboam still attacked. Abijah’s 400,000 warriors faced off against Jeroboam’s 800,000 warriors. Jeroboam then surprised Abijah’s warriors with an ambush from behind. The men of Judah cried out and God smote Jeroboam and the children of Israel. Abijah’s warriors pursued after them taking over cities and towns, and gaining control of the children of Israel. Abijah became mighty. We are to remember that even when the odds are against us, God can work a miracle to save us and even expand our territory.

Questions and Thoughts for Today

They went beyond victory in battle to expanding their territory.

When have you seen God take someone facing a difficult situation and bless them beyond their expectations?
