Today I read 2 Kings 22, in which the book of the law is found and the king understood how they were breaking the covenant. Today I considered that God knows we are imperfect but gives us grace as long as we try our best for God.
Grace Given to the King
A young king that gave his all to God and found out there was even more to do, but God gave him grace (2 Kings 22:1-20). Amon’s son Josiah became king of Judah at eight years old and did that which was right before the Lord like David. Josiah was 18 years old and had ordered the fixing of the temple. The book of the law was found by priest Hilkiah and read to Josiah by scribe Shaphan. Josiah was distressed knowing all the sins he and the people committed. Josiah sent people to prophetess Huldah to inquire of the Lord. God said he would bring evil on the people but Josiah would not see it. Josiah would die in peace. God gives those who love him grace.
Questions and Thoughts for Today
Reading this chapter made me think of the song “Stand” by Donnie McClurkin. We do all we can do. God will give us grace in the rest.
How does this song “Stand” speak to you in relationship to 2 Kings 22?
