Today I read Joshua 6, about the fall of Jericho. Today I considered that God sometimes rewards us for our faithful actions as we dwell in silence and have patience for His blessings to manifest.
God’s Favor With Joshua
God told Joshua God gave Jericho to him and what to do to for the walls to fall down (Joshua 6:1-27). The men of war, seven priests carrying seven ram’s horn trumpets, and the priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant walked around Jericho once each day for six days. The seventh day they went around Jericho seven times and then after a long blast from the trumpet all of the people shouted. During this time Joshua instructed the people to make no noise with their voice until they are told to shout. Then the walls fell down. The people destroyed almost everything and even burnt the city with fire. They only spared Rahab the harlot and her family and brought all the gold, silver, brass, and iron into the Lord’s house. Joshua became famous in the country with people knowing the Lord was with him.
Questions and Thoughts for Today
During that seven days Joshua had told the people to remain silent. Silence can be a blessing with no one being able to say anything negative but also making their voices rested and stronger for the shout. Imagine seven days of total dedication in which you do the same thing each day believing God for a miracle. Even at the end of the seven days, they shouted with faith before the walls came tumbling down.
Have you ever received a reward from dwelling in silence and patience?
