Today I read Joshua 24, in which Israel renews the covenant with God. Today I considered that seeing the miracles and might of God can bring someone to follow the Lord all their days.
Seeing Is Believing
The Israelites following God during the miracles were reminded of His works and stayed true to their renewed covenant (Joshua 24:1-31). Joshua had all the elders and leaders of the tribes of Israel gather at Shechem. He reminded them of all that God had done beginning with Abraham through God driving out people from the promised land for Israel to receive the cities, vineyards, etc that they did not have to build or plant. Joshua asked them to choose who they would serve, other gods or God. They said they choose to serve the Lord. Joshua told them to put away the strange gods. Joshua made a covenant with the people and put a great stone there as a witness in case they deny God. Then Joshua let them go to their inheritance. The people continued to serve God after Joshua died until all the elders and leaders that lived during Joshua’s time and knew God’s works had died.
Questions and Thoughts for Today
When people see a miracle from God it can renew their faith such that they stay true to the Lord all their life.
