Today I read 1 Samuel 6, in which the Philistines returned the Ark of the Lord to Israel. Today I considered that the Philistines and the men of Bethshemesh did not know how to or have the authority to take care of the Ark of the Lord, so they sent it elsewhere.
Ark Returned to Israel
The Philistines and the men of Bethshemesh did not keep the Ark of the Lord long before sending it away (1 Samuel 6:1-21). The Philistines kept the Ark of the Lord seven months and asked their priests and diviners what to do with the ark. They were advised to send the ark away on a new cart by two mulch kin who never had a yoke, and include a trespass offering of five golden emerods and five golden mice. The Philistines sent the ark to Bethshemesh. The men working in the field saw the Ark, rejoiced, had Levites take down the ark, and offered offerings. God smote 50,060 men in Bethshemesh for looking in the Ark. Bethshemesh sent messengers to Kirjathjearim that the Philistines left the Ark and they should come get it. Sometimes it is better no to mess with certain things.
Questions and Thoughts for Today
Sometimes a person may not have the strength to lift a certain item (i.e. washer/dryer) or the knowledge to use a certain item (i.e. know all body parts and their functions, how to use a scalpel, how to prescribe medicine). At those times it is better to get help from someone than be harmed.
When is an example of you knowing you need to get help instead of being harmed?
