Today I read 1 Samuel 12, in which Samuel addresses the people about wanting a king. Today I considered that many times we want someone to lead us but God is who should lead us.
Wanting a King
Their spiritual leader explained what God had done versus the Israelites requesting a king (1 Samuel 12:1-25). Samuel first had the people agree that he had served God since he was a child and had done nothing wrong to the children of Israel. Samuel reminded them that God brought them out of Egypt, delivered them from Sisera, the Philistines, the Moabites, and Nash. God even gave them a king like they requested, when God was originally their king. It was wheat harvest time and Samuel called thunder and rain to show the children of Israel sinned in wanting a king. They asked Samuel to pray they not die because of wanting a king. Samuel told them God chose them as His people and to follow the Lord because if you do wickedly you and your king will be consumed. They wanted a king but still needed to serve God.
Questions and Thoughts for Today
Many people appreciate having a human being lead and guide them in all aspects of their lives from following fashion to food diets and trends to watching others lifestyles, etc. This may be easier but the right thing is to pray and listen to what God tells you to do in what to wear, what to eat, and the lifestyle the Lord would have you live.
What thing have you followed individuals in doing but believe you should ask God for the correct way?
