Today I read James 2, where we see the importance of being unbiased in how we treat people and taking action according to our faith. Today I considered that God expects us to care about all kinds of people and to show our faith in our daily actions.
Faith Is Unbiased
People who have real faith in God’s word do not prefer the rich over the poor (James 2:1-13). They love their neighbors. They treat both the rich and poor the same. Poor people can be heirs to Christ’s kingdom because of their great faith. Rich people can be the ones taking people to court. People of faith are to obey all the law but people do fall short. The faithful are to show mercy so they receive mercy.
Faith Requires Action
People can say they have faith but must also show their faith through their works (James 2:14-26). Faith can be seen through your actions. People of faith clothing and feeding those who are naked and hungry. Abraham being willing to offer Isaac. Rahab sending the messengers the wrong way. They showed faith and God rewarded them.
Questions and Thoughts for Today
God expects us to care about all kinds of people including the poor, needy, and wealthy. We can take care of some of the needs of the poor and needy, but all people also need a savior. Showing we care about them all can help them glimpse the love of the savior Jesus Christ.
What have you done in the last few months to help someone see the love of Jesus Christ?
“For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also” (James 2:26 KJV).
What does the passage James 2:26 mean to you?
