Today I read Zechariah 13, which talks about increased sin and increased judgment followed by only one third of the people being left. Today I considered that God’s true judgment will be very serious, and sometimes we need the Old Testament to help us understand the New Testament in the Bible.
Sin and Judgment
God tells us the amount of sin in the world will increase but so will judgment (Zechariah 13:1-9). There will be a fountain of sin and uncleanness. God will cut off all idols. Parents will destroy lying children that prophesied. Some leaders will be destroyed. Two thirds of people will be gone but a third will remain to be refined by God. When God’s judgment truly comes, it will be massive.
Questions and Thoughts for Today
I read the book of Revelations years ago and Zechariah 13 reminds me of a part where it said a third of everything would be destroyed. This is showing how the Old Testament helps you understand the New Testament and the full Bible needs to be read.
Have you ever heard or seen something and it did not fully make sense until you were told the history behind it?
