Today I read 1 Chronicles 15 and 16, in which David was able to bring the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem and David gave thanks to God. Today I considered that David took care of God then the people, and even today we may go to church but others are continuously there as part of their job.

David Prepared for God’s Presence

David prepared both a location and the people for the presence of God (1 Chronicles 15:1-16:6). David put up a tent just for the Ark of the Covenant. David appointed specific Levites to be over carrying, singing, and playing instruments before the Ark. David, the priests, and the Levites cleaned and dressed up before bringing the Ark to Israel. Once the Ark was placed in Israel, they offered sacrifices to God and continued to praise God. David blessed the people in the name of the Lord and gave all of them bread, meat, and wine. We should remember David’s example of preparation, that he praised God first including making sacrifices, then taking care of everyone else including feeding them.

Praise and Routines

The day the Ark of the Covenant arrived David gave a psalm and a routine was established (I Chronicles 16:7-43). The psalm spoke of God’s strength, fulfilling His promises, no one is greater than God, and everyone and the earth rejoicing. When others left, there were still Levites continually ministering before the Ark with offerings, thanksgiving, and music. Even today we come together to sing psalms to God but others continuously take care of the things of God as their job.

Questions and Thoughts for Today

Have you ever heard the phrase God, Family, Country?  David praised God, was surrounded by family, and gave food to every individual present, thus taking care of the country.
