Today I read 2 Chronicles 2, in which Solomon prepares to build the temple of God. Today I considered that you can’t just go by what supplies are provided, you need to check it and get anything else that is needed before you begin.
Solomon’s Preparation for the Temple
Solomon enlisted more laborers and obtained more supplies for God’s temple before he began building (2 Chronicles 2:1-18). Solomon designated men to carry things, to cut rock from the mountain, and to oversee the work. Solomon also designated strangers in the land to carry things and be over them. Solomon sent to Huram for wood and skilled labor, but promised to send grains, oil, and wine in exchange. Solomon requested someone skilled in the working of metal and colors. Huram provided the supplies and sent a skilled man from the tribe of Dan. Real leaders do not just look at what was prepared for them, they assess what else is needed and obtain it before starting the work.
Questions and Thoughts for Today
Solomon used the principle the friend of my father is my friend. When he sent to Hurman for supplies, he asked that they deal with him like they had his father. Have you ever had a family or friend connection help you?
