Today I read 2 Chronicles 16, where Asa suffered because he did not rely on God at the end of his reign. Today I considered that we need to rely on God in all areas of our lives all the days of our lives.

End of Asa’s Reign

God desires for us to spend all of our years relying on Him and then God will continue to help us (2 Chronicles 16:1-13). Asa reigned 41 years but the last five years he sought outside help instead of seeking God’s help. Baasha, the king of Israel, began a war against Asa. Asa sent treasures to Benhadad, the king of Syria, to help him win against Baasha. Hanani the seer told Asa that because he relied on Benhadad he would continue to have wars. Asa got sick three years later and asked physicians instead of God for help. His disease worsened, and he died two years later. We have to remember to trust God with our possessions and territory but also with our health. God can lead, guide and help us in all areas.

Questions and Thoughts for Today

I have had family members and friends tell me that they prayed to God and He healed some and guided others to better treatment for diseases and health issues. Sometimes God even guided them in what medicines or herbs to take and the results were confirmed when physicians no longer saw the prior issues in their blood work or test results.

When have you prayed to God and following His guidance led to a better result?
