Today I read 2 Chronicles 31, in which Hezekiah conducts reforms and organizes the Levites and priests. Today I considered that we should want leaders that actually care about the church, God’s house.

Care for God’s House

A king that organizes people and items to ensure he is taking care of the house of the Lord (2 Chronicles 31:2-21). Hezekiah organized the priests and Levites into different jobs and tasks. He dedicated from the king’s wealth a portion to the daily burnt offerings, Sabbaths, and other special occasions. Hezekiah told the people in Jerusalem to give to the priests and Levites and they did abundantly. Hezekiah had storerooms prepared because of the abundance. Cononiah and Shimei were over the tithes, offerings, and sacred gifts. Kore was over the free-will offerings and responsible for distributing offerings and sacred gifts to everyone in the registered line of the Levites. Reputable men gave out portions to priests not in Jerusalem. Everyone distributed fairly. Everything Hezekiah did to serve God, he did with his whole heart.  We should look for leaders that do what they can with their whole heart to take care of God’s house.
