Today I read 1 Kings 9, in which God confirms the covenant with Solomon and we learn of Solomon’s accomplishment. Today I considered that God rewards loyalty and it takes time to build.

God Rewards the Loyal

God came to Solomon in a dream explaining that the people’s actions impact God’s favor (2 Kings 9:1-9). After Solomon finished the house of the Lord, God tells Solomon again that David’s line will stay on the throne if they follow God. God warns Israel they will be cut off if they forsake God. We see that God rewards and protects those loyal to Him.

Time to Build

Solomon took time to build the temple, his house, and the congregation (1 Kings 9:10-28). Solomon finished the temple and his house after 20 years. He also built towns, expanded into the wilderness, and gained further wealth doing things like getting gold from Ophir. We should remind ourselves that it can take time for us to build our portfolio, skills, and assets.
