Today I read Genesis 26, when Isaac interacted with Abimelech. Isaac had similar experiences that his father Abraham faced. Abraham’s blessings in those situations also came to Isaac. Today I considered how the blessings of the past flow to us and the need to remember to worship God.
Isaac Prospering from Abraham
God’s enduring promise to Abraham because of his obedience (Genesis 26:5 & 24) flowed down to Isaac. God protected Isaac when he called his beautiful wife Rebekah his sister. Isaac received a hundredfold for his and his servant’s work. The wells Isaac reopened and new wells he dug blessed others and Isaac’s people. Abimelech promised peace with Isaac upon seeing the favor of God upon Isaac. We are able to claim the same promise of protection and blessings, hundredfold harvest, and peace in the land in which we dwell.
Isaac Worshiped God
While being blessed and protected we still need to remember the source. Isaac built and altar and called upon the name of the Lord (Genesis 26:25). Isaac knew his blessings came from God. Isaac worshiped God. We must also remember to thank God and praise Him for all the blessings we receive.
