Today I read 2 Kings 18, in which Hezekiah, king of Judah did what was right in the sight of The Lord. Today I considered that unbelievers still attack believers and their faith.
Unbelievers Attacking Believers
A king following after God was attacked by those that do not believe one God (2 Kings 18:1-37). Ahaz’s son Hezekiah became king of Judah. He did what was right including destroying high places, images, and groves, and trusting and following God. Hezekiah rebelled against Assyria and smote the Philistines. Assyria later went to war against all of Judah’s walled cities. Hezekiah sent the king of Assyria all the silver from the king’s house and the Lord’s house, and sent gold asking to be left alone. Assyria’s messengers said in the Jewish language that they would take them to a similar land, no god could deliver them or others would have been delivered, and to not believe Hezekiah. The people did not reply as they were told to stay quiet. Eliakim, Sheba, and Joah went to tell Hezekiah what the messenger said, with their clothes torn. We need to remember that sometimes unbelievers will attack believers and their faith.
