Today I read Joshua 1, in which the Lord instructs Joshua after the death of Moses. Today I considered that we should choose leaders following the instructions of God and if they are following God we will see that God is with them.

Following Leaders Hearing From God

God spoke to Joshua and the people were willing to follow him because of God (Joshua 1:1-18). After Moses died, the Lord guided and promised to be with Moses’ minister Joshua like He was with Moses. Joshua was instructed to take possession of the land from the wilderness to the sea, to divide the land among the tribes, to keep the law, and to meditate on the law. Joshua instructed the people to prepare to leave in three days and the warriors from the three tribes staying on that side of the Jordan were to help them possess the land on the other side of the Jordan. Those three tribes agreed to follow Joshua if God is with him and not let others rebel against Joshua. When we choose leaders, we should choose leaders following the instructions of God.

Questions and Thoughts for Today

God promised their leader Joshua that God would not allow anyone to come against him and God would make him prosper wherever he went. Leaders truly following God will not just lead but will prosper and have enough that those under them also receive something whether it’s wages, land, or some other benefit.

What leader have you seen or heard of that made sure their people prospered?
