Today I read 2 Samuel 7, in which Nathan’s prophecy is of God’s promises to David, and David responds with a prayer of gratitude. Today I considered that when the Lord tells us a blessing is coming we should tell God thank you even before we receive it.
Response to Wanting to Give to God
God responds to David’s desire to give to him by renewing God’s promises (2 Samuel 7:1-29). King David was in his house living in peace and wanted to build a house for the Lord. God spoke to the prophet Nathan that night. Nathan told David that God did not ask for a house from the prophets, had been staying in a tent and walked with the children of Israel. God relayed He was going to bless Israel with a place of their own. David’s lineage will be on a throne established forever. God’s mercy will not depart from David’s household. David responded with a prayer acknowledging God’s greatness, being grateful, and saying he believed God.
