Today I read Job 4 & 5, Eliphaz gave a speech to Job implying Job may have done something wrong but regardless to seek God for help. Today I considered that we may not know why we are going through something but to get the answer we should ask God.
Eliphaz’s Speech & Suggestion
Eliphaz gave his ideas of reasons for Job’s situation and told him to seek God for help (Job 4:1-5:27). Eliphaz could not hold back from talking to Job. He said Job had helped the weak, those falling, and others but now was troubled. Eliphaz said you reap what you sow. Eliphaz had a dream or vision in the night where he was told God is more just than man. Eliphaz has seen the foolish lose everything. He advised Job to talk to a saint and to seek God for help. Eliphaz listed how God is powerful in situations regardless of what you face from weather to being poor to famine to war to gossip. Eliphaz said God can even have you live to an old age.
Questions and Thoughts for Today
Even though Eliphaz was wrong about his theories for why Job was going through hardships, he was right about going to God. God can have us going through something because of what we did, what someone else did, because of building our faith, to prepare us for what is coming, to make us stronger, to lay a foundation for a future generation, or any number of reasons. We can guess at why we are going through something but God knows the actual answer.
Have you asked God why you went through or are going through a hardship or difficult situation?
