Today I read Job 21, in which Job disagrees with his friends saying they are trying to trap him. Today I considered that sometimes people do try to trap you with your words so be careful what you speak over your situation.
Job Disagrees About the Wicked
Job wants his say, acknowledges God makes the decisions, and says the friends’ words are not helping (Job 21:1-34). Job told them to listen to him speaking and then they can continue to mock him. Job is complaining to God not man. Job complains that the wicked have it so good not worrying, children growing up, animals producing, having fun lives, and not wanting anything to do with God. The wicked are rarely punished and Job wants them to would get the wrath right now so they know they did wrong not later on having their children face the wrath. Job acknowledges we do not have the right to tell God what to do. Some people die young and some never have happiness. Job says they are trying to trap him with what they say because many wicked never face judgment while they are alive and even have nice burials. Job is not comforted by the friends’ lies.
Questions and Thoughts for Today
You do not have to agree with what everyone says about you. Sometimes people speak things over your life that are negative and/or harmful. These things can be something you did not do and do not plan on doing. These things can be what they expect to happen in your life in the future. Don’t agree with them. Speak positive over your life. There is power over life and death in the tongue (Proverbs 18:21).
When is a time you faced someone speaking negative concerning your life but you spoke positive and the positive happened?
