Today I read Job 22, in which Eliphaz accuses Job again, for the third time, saying Job sinned. Today I considered that people can be wrong because God does notice your righteousness and purity.
Eliphaz’s Third Accusation
Eliphaz believes Job sinned and needs to come back to God (Job 22:1-30). Eliphaz tells Job that God doesn’t need man’s strength or advice. Eliphaz believes God wouldn’t notice if Job was righteous and pure. Eliphaz accuses him saying Job did not help the hungry, poor, widow, or orphan and that is why Job is now living with traps around him and in darkness. The wicked do not acknowledge God but God is the one that gave them good things. Eliphaz says Job should return to God and God will give Job gold and silver, hear his prayers, and help him. Eliphaz says even the guilty escape through God’s grace.
Questions and Thoughts for Today
As we know from Job 1, God noticed Job’s righteousness and purity. God noticed it was to the point that he told the devil about it, knowing Job could withstand the test. God does allow those doing right to be tested.
When were you doing the right thing but felt like you were going through trials and being tested?
