Today I read James 1, talking about having faith to keep patience in temptation and conduct themselves according to true religion actions. Today I considered that God rewards us after avoiding temptation and expects us to change when we become His children.
Giving In vs. Avoiding Temptation
Everyone can choose to give in or not give in to temptation (James 1:1-18). When you face temptation and trials you build up patience and if you make it to the end you get rewarded. Through unwavering faith you can ask for wisdom and God will give it to you and help you. If you choose to give into temptation instead, lust leads to sin and sin leads to death.
Real Christians
Real religious people hear God’s word, remember it, and do God’s work. They don’t get angry easily because anger will lead them to not do as God would have them do. Real Christians do God’s work and are blessed in their actions. They keep themselves clean, and remember the fatherless and widows.
Questions and Thoughts for Today
God does reward those who make it through temptation. In the book of Job, the devil tempted Job, but Job still believed in God. Job was rewarded with double his riches at the end.
When have you seen someone go through hardship and they are rewarded with double the blessings?
God expects us to change when we become His children. People pray to accept God, become baptized, and/or agree to love the Lord every day. If they truly accept God into their heart, they will change. When you change inside, your actions change.
When have you seen someone really accept God into their heart and seen a change in their actions?
