Today I read James 4, showing we have to choose the world or God, and emphasizing God is the judge and we make it because the Lord allows us to. Today I considered that we choose the world or God daily.
Choice: World or God
People can choose the world or choose God (James 4:1-10). People fight and have wars, killing people to get what they want. They were not given what they asked for because they ask to fill their lust. They are friends of the world, thus enemies of God. People should instead cleanse themselves, humble themselves and draw closer to God. Then God will draw close to them. After that the Lord will raise up the humble.
God as Judge; God’s Will
God is the judge and what happens should be in His will (James 4:11-17). We are not to talk bad about and judge each other because we did not make the law. We are to do the good we know to do and not sin. We are not to boast about what we plan to do because that is evil. We are to say that if God is willing we will do this or that.
Questions and Thoughts for Today
Each day we are faced with choices concerning what we ask God for, how we look at others, who we try to please, and more. Choosing God’s way in all of these areas the right choice. Sometimes we choose to satisfy ourselves or others and it is not within God’s will. God can give us knowledge to make our choices. “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and abraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering.” (James 1:5-6a KJV).
When have you prayed for wisdom or knowledge to make a choice and were surprised by the information God gave you?
