Today I read Deuteronomy 10, where the second tables of stone was created for God to write on and God’s great requirement includes to love God with all you heart and soul. Today I considered that when you love someone you do fear their reactions and put your focus on them.

Stone Tables and Loving God

The stone tables were redone, and the Israelites were reminded of the importance of loving God (Deuteronomy 10:1-22). Moses created two stone tables like the first ones and the Lord wrote the commandments on the tables. Moses put the stone tables in an Ark of shittim wood. The Israelites traveled to Mosera, where Aaron then died. They traveled to Gudgodah and then Jotbath, where the Lord separated the Levites. The Levites were to carry the Ark, minister to God, and have the Lord as their inheritance. Moses stayed in the mountain another 40 days to intercede, so God did not destroy the people. God required that the Israelites fear the Lord, love God, follow God’s commandments, and serve God with their heart and soul. Moses warned God cares about the fatherless, widows, and strangers. The Israelites were to praise God for the wonderful things he has done with only 70 people going down to Egypt but a multitude coming out of Egypt.

Questions and Thoughts for Today

People love their parents and fear disappointing them, angering them, or upsetting them. Sometimes people change their careers, schools, who they choose to marry, and even where they live because of their parents. Parents can influence how their children treat others and what activities their children are willing to engage in, impacting their children’s daily lives. God expects us to love the Lord like people love their parents, but to put the Lord above all else.

How much do you love the Lord?
