Today I read Deuteronomy 32, where Moses taught the Israelites a song and Moses is again told he cannot enter the promised land. Today I considered that our faith matters to God.

Summary of Moses’ Song

Moses sings a song to the Israelites about their coming blessings, betraying God, God’s wrath, and God’s forgiveness (Deuteronomy 32:1-47). Moses sings of God being The Rock and perfect, dividing the nations, and choosing their people to be put where there were no strange gods. God gave them plenty to eat and they became fat. Then they turned to abominations, strange gods and devils. God’s anger will be kindled such that the people will suffer troubles and war including the young and old, and male and female.  God will then scatter them across the world. God will remember them when there are few and take revenge on their enemies. After Moses’ song, Moses reminded the people obeying the law gives them longer lifespans.

Moses Not Getting the Promise

God told Moses where to climb up the mountain to see the land of Caanan given to the Israelites, but he is not to cross over to the promised land (Deuteronomy 32:48-52). Moses messed up by not believing in God, shown through his actions, and couldn’t receive the promise.

Questions and Thoughts for Today

Moses was humble, followed God’s instructions, and led the people. While Moses was leading the people, in front of all of them, he showed a lack of faith in what God told him to do. This lack of faith resulted in Moses not being able to go to the promised land. Our lack of faith can also lead to us missing out on blessings.

What have you wished you had kept faith about because you now know you probably lost out on a blessing?
