Today I read Hosea 1, where God has Hosea marry and use his marriage to show God’s relationship with the Israelites. Today I considered that God can use our human relationships to help show us the truth of our relationship and closeness with God.
Hosea Marries and Has Children
God showed his relationship with Israel through Hosea’s marriage starting with the names of Hosea’s children (Hosea 1:1-11). God told Hosea to marry and have kids with a whore. Hosea married Gomer and had two sons and a daughter with her. God named the children Jezreel meaning for yet a little while, Loruhamah meaning no mercy on Israel but mercy on Judah, and Loammi meaning the Israelites not being God’s people and God not being their God. God told Hosea the day of Jezreel will be great with unnumberable Israelites and Judah and Israel gathering together again.
Questions and Thoughts for Today
God used Hosea’s marriage and children to show His relationship with the Israelites. The closest relationships people usually have are with their spouse and children. God is showing how close he wants His relationship with his children/believers to be.
