Today I read Hosea 8, where God decides to convict Israel for their sins including the corruption by Ephraim. Today I considered that God can also sentence us for our sins.
God’s Sentence on Israel
God will allow the enemy to go after Israel because they broke the covenant and sinned against God (Hosea 8:1-14). Israel put kings and princes in place without asking God. Ephraim built idols. planted wild seeds and created sin altars. Israel sacrifices to God, but God does not accept the sacrifice. Israel increased their number of walled cities, but God will set them on fire.
Questions and Thoughts for Today
God is our judge and can sentence us for our sins. God sentenced Israel for their actions. God can also sentence us for our actions. God’s sentence can be lighter or more harsh, just like any judge with the right to punish us. God knows our hearts, our obedient actions, our thoughts, and our deliberate sins to make an accurate judgment. We can work on changing ourselves through focusing God’s word, spending time with God, and worshiping God so that any sentence we receive is lighter.
What have you done lately that would give you grace with God and hopefully a lighter sentence if convicted by God?
