Today I read John 7, where Jesus went to the feast of Tabernacles separately from his brothers, taught, more people called him Christ or the Messiah, and more people argued about who Jesus was. Today I considered that even Jesus’ brothers did not believe in him but he kept working for God.
Jesus Taught at the Feast of Tabernacles
Jesus taught causing more to believe in him at the feast of Tabernacles (John 7:1-53). Jesus’ brothers did not believe in him and told him to go to the feast of tabernacles to do works. Jesus said the world would hate him, it wasn’t his time yet, but his brothers should go ahead to the feast. Jesus secretly went to the feast later and taught in the temple surprising them at his knowledge. They looked for Jesus probably among his brothers but did not find him. Jesus explained that his knowledge was from God, convicted the people concerning the law of Moses and that they could perform circumcision on the Sabbath then he could heal then also. Some thought Jesus a prophet, some said he was the Messiah, some said the Messiah comes from Bethlehem not Galilee. Some Pharisees were unhappy that the officers did not arrest him because of his knowledgeable speech. Everyone went home.
Questions and Thoughts for Today
Some of a person’s family members may not believe in the person, but he or she can still continue to do the work that God sets before them to do. Do not let others stop you from doing God’s calling.
When have you seen someone who had to overcome the negativity of family and/or friends to become successful?
