Today I read John 8, where Jesus’ words and actions stopped the stoning of the adulteress, Jesus explained living in the light, children’s behavior follows their true father, and Jesus has lived since time began. Today I considered that every person has sinned and does not have the right to judge the general actions of others.
Adulteress’ Accusers Leave
Jesus showed the woman sinned but so had all her accusers (John 8:1-11). Jesus was in the temple teaching when scribes and Pharises brought a woman to him who was caught in adultery. They wanted to stone her, but Jesus said let the first stone be thrown by someone without sin. Jesus then wrote on the ground with his finger. Everyone left and no one cast the first stone. Jesus told the adulteress to leave and stop sinning.
Light, True Father, Beginning of Time Existence
Jesus explained Jesus being a light, children following their real father’s example, and Jesus’ existence prior to Abraham’s birth (John 8:12-59). Jesus said he is the light of the world, and we live in the light by following him. Jesus explained: Father God is the witness of Jesus; God sent Jesus; and Jesus’ actions are to please God. Everyone has to believe in Jesus to have eternal life. If you love God, you will believe in his son and love his son. A child’s father is the one they behave like. Children of Abraham should behave like Abraham. Many people’s actions follow that of the devil, like the devil is their father. Jesus told them he was around before Abraham so Abraham was happy to see him. The people were ready to stone Jesus, so he hid.
Questions and Thoughts for Today
Everyone reading this has committed a sin in their thoughts, heart, or actions. Even if no evil has been done, everyone has considered committing some type of sin. Since no one is perfect, we do not have the right to judge others. While not judging, we are still to protect ourselves and our families. The Bible does say to have watchmen and there is a time to fight. Watching and being prepared to fight is not the same as passing judgment.
Do you know someone who is aware of everything around them but is not passing judgment on others, instead they are watchman?
