Today I read John 15, explaining Jesus is the true vine that we depend on and we can’t expect to not face hatred in the world. Today I considered that praying through Jesus is powerful.

Dependent Fruit and Hatred

Fruit depends on the vine to grow but hatred comes from those not really knowing God (John 15:1-27). Jesus is the vine, disciples are the branches, and God is the gardener. Disciples are able to bear fruit because they are attached to Jesus. If a person is not bearing fruit he or she will be cut off by the gardener. Those not attached they will dry and wither. Jesus’ commandment was to love one another like Jesus showed them. Jesus said the disciples are his friends, not servants. Jesus chose them, ordained them, and expects them to be productive. Anything they ask of God in Jesus’ name, God will answer. Jesus warned that they will experience hatred in the world from those that do not know God. If they know God, they will know Jesus. The disciples and the Holy Spirit will testify of Jesus.

Questions and Thoughts for Today

Praying with Jesus as your advocate is powerful. There are people who were protected, healed, set free, and more. These people followed Jesus and asked God with heartfelt prayer.

Do you have an example in your life of someone who believes in Jesus, prays to God and their prayers usually seem to be answered?
