Today I read Hebrews 2, explaining that Jesus became man to be able to understand what we go through and be fair to us. Today I considered that we needed Jesus as a man on earth to understand his mission of salvation.
Why Jesus Became Man
God prefers obedience but Jesus can help when we are tempted (Hebrews 2:1-18). We are to try to obey all that God told us to do including instructions from God’s angels, so we don’t receive punishment for disobedience. God temporarily made Jesus a little lower than the angels like man. Jesus faced the same temptations as mankind and death so that he could understand us. Jesus having faced what we face can now be a just and merciful high priest, helping those who are tempted. Jesus came to earth for our salvation.
Questions and Thoughts for Today
Jesus needed to come to earth as mankind for us to understand the grace God gives us and for our salvation. If Jesus came to earth as an angel, bird, cat, dog, horse, spirit, or anything else than mankind, we would not understand him. Jesus would not truly experience life the way we experience life unless he came as a human. Jesus coming as a man facilitated communication with mankind and understanding for mankind. Now we have someone as our advocate who understands our burdens, temptations, heartache, and fears.
