Today I read Exodus 24, which the people confirmed their agreement to the covenant with God. God brought the elders closer than the people but only Moses was able to see everything. Today I considered how the people are told the vision, the elders and leaders have a deeper understanding, but only the person at the top gets the full picture.

Covenant with God Affirmed

The covenant with God was affirmed verbally, written, and with blood (Exodus 24:3-11). Moses told the people what God said and they all agreed to God’s rules. Moses wrote it all down in a book. Moses took half of the blood from the offerings to God and sprinkled it upon the people as the blood of the covenant.

Leaders Brought Closer to God

God chose leaders to bring closer to Him than the people. Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and seventy Hebrew elders were to worship God (Exodus 24:1). They were brought closer than the people and saw God (Exodus 24:9-10). We should look for leaders and elders in our lives that God brings closer to Him than other people.

Primary Leader Brought Closest to God

God only had Moses come up the mountain to see Him and get the tables of stone to teach the people (Exodus 24:12-18). Only Moses was given everything, even Aaron was left behind with the elders. Moses also saw the glory of God. God sometimes only gives the vision and rules to organize the vision to one person. That one person may be you.

Questions and Thoughts for Today

The person at the top of the organization or group needs the full picture for everything to work successfully.  Have you ever seen an organization not make it because the leader lacked a full vision?
