Today I read Matthew 25:1-13, in which the wise maidens were prepared and the foolish maidens lost their chance. Today I considered that we have to be prepared not just with equipment but with the oil, gasoline, or energy to use the equipment.

Five Prepared vs Five Unprepared

The five wise maidens had what they needed to wait while the five foolish maidens completely missed their chance (Matthew 25:1-13). Ten maidens went to meet their fiancés and were carrying their lamps with them. The bridegrooms were taking a long time to arrive so the maidens fell asleep. A warning went out that the fiancés were on the way. Five wise maidens had oil for their lamps and five foolish maidens did not have oil. The five without oil went to go buy oil. When they came back they were unable to see their fiancés and completely missed all the bridegrooms.

Questions and Thoughts for Today

Many people talk about buying equipment and buying supplies, but without the correct energy sources the equipment and supplies are worthless. A person can buy lamps, but they need enough oil for the lamps. A person can buy a generator, but they need enough gasoline for a generator. A person can buy a solar battery/generator but they need solar panels and connection wires to attach to the solar generator. Whatever equipment and supplies are purchased the corresponding energy resources to power it also need to be purchased.
