Today I read Proverbs 16, which talks about the heart, kings, right, and wrong. Today I considered our heart posture ultimately impacting our peace and traits to look for in leaders.
Heart Posture to Impact the Wicked
Every person should take care of their heart so God can help them deal with the wicked (Proverbs 16:1-9). When people prepare their hearts God can direct what they say and do. Being lead by God to mercy and truth, wickedness is purged. When people please God, even their enemies are at peace with them. We should do what we can to keep our hearts right with God thus ensuring the removal of the wicked and peace around us.
Leader Traits
Leaders are appointed by God and held to a certain standard. Leaders should be fair, righteous, slow to anger, and have control over themselves (Proverbs 16:10-15, 32). Leaders should have these traits so they will not lose their leadership given by God, be loved, and be better than the mighty and those that overtake locations. We should look for these traits in those we choose as our leaders.
Questions and Thoughts for Today
Proverbs talks about the heart again, showing how important our hearts are. Many people do different things to engage their thoughts and heart toward God from listening to Christian music to joining a Christian choir to praying to reading the Bible to joining groups focused on God.
What is the way in which you engage your heart to focus on God?
