Today I read Proverbs 21, which talks about a lot of things including the wise, poor, and people’s hearts. Today I considered that we have to be consistent to be successful, and God cares about our hearts.

Consistency

God tells us that loving God, being consistent, and storing up treasure leads to success (Proverbs 21: 5, 17 & 20). A poor person loves pleasure, eating, drinking, and spending everything. The wise keep valuable things, are diligent, and have plenty. We are to be consistent in our actions toward loving God and storing up so that we also have plenty.

Our Hearts

God cares about our hearts (Proverbs 21:1-4). A person can seem like they are doing the right thing but God cares about what is actually in their heart. God even controls the hearts of leaders. God considers a proud heart sinful. We should consider not just what we think is right but what God says is right in His word and write it on our hearts.

Questions and Thoughts for Today

When Proverbs 21 talks about God controlling the hearts of Kings, I think about Pharaoh and the 12 plagues in which God hardened Pharaoh’s heart. Hardening Pharaoh’s heart led to God’s glory being spread through the retailing of the events through storybooks, movies, etc. I talked about God’s wonders leading to God’s glory in Bible Blog 36.

Do you have an example of a difficulty leading to God’s glory?
