Today I read Proverbs 27, which talks about several topics including friendship and being diligent about your animals. Today I considered that God wants us to have friends in which we both strengthen each other. I also considered that God wants us to use the resources we have to take care of ourselves and others.

Friendship

God tells us about the importance of friends (Proverbs 27: 6, 9-10, and 17). People should remain friends with their friends and their parents’ friends. Real friends are faithful providing good counsel that is sweet sometimes and hard to hear sometimes. Friendship provides a mutual benefit making each of you stronger. We should develop friendships with loyal people, where both sides benefit each other.

Responsibility for What You Own

God tells us to take care of what we have and it will take care of us (Proverbs 27:23-27). People who have animals or land should pay attention to it. If you do not pay attention, you can lose your valuable resources. If you do pay attention, your resources can feed and clothe you and others. We should make sure to take care of the resources we have so they continue to be resources and not losses.

Questions and Thoughts for Today

People have used their animals and land to support them for centuries. I recently saw some women with pet bunnies, poodles, etc that when they cut the animals hair, they would use it to make expensive yarn. What ways do you know of that you or others are using their resources to support their lifestyle?
